Museum Collection

The Soldiers of Gloucester Museum holds in trust the collections of the Gloucestershire Regiment and the Royal Gloucestershire Hussars. These extensive collections, developed over the years are conserved and displayed to demonstrate the magnificent history of these two fine county regiments. We are lucky to hold one of the finest collections of medals which act as a memorial to a man's individual service. Fine art, uniforms, silver and personal items from all periods combine to give this collection considerable depth and variety. We hope you will browse and see the treasures that we are fortunate enough to hold in trust for future generations.

As part of our ongoing commitment to improve this Collections page, its browse facility together with our collection care, documentation and presentation, we periodically add items, refine descriptions and images, and adjust structures.

Soldier Database

The museum and archives of the Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum are fortunate to have a comprehensive data base which was donated by Mr J Devereux. This holds over 40,000 names and includes the names of soldiers who served in the Gloucestershire Regiment in World War 1.
