A definitive history of the Royal Gloucestershire Hussars from its origins in 1794 until 1898. It also includes scarce references to Nathaniel Wells of Piercefield House, Chepstow, who was the first black person to be commissioned into the British Armed Forces and the first black High Sheriff.
